PFZ Farms is your place for education, research, innovation, and farm-to-table products that don’t require a web search to understand the ingredients.
Moxie Bread & co.
Local Heirloom Grain Mill & BakehouseWhether 100% whole wheat, a mix of flours, or gluten-free, all of Moxie’s bakery products begin with organic, unprocessed grains. All of their breads undergo a long, slow fermentation process. This process essentially pre-digests the grains, increasing the bioavailability of their nutrients. It also decreases any inflammatory qualities, making our breads more tolerable for individuals who are sensitive to processed white flour breads. Their dedication to environmental stewardship is integral to their mission of nourishing our neighbors and fostering community. They implement sustainable practices across our operations to minimize our ecological footprint and promote a healthier planet.
Adobe Milling
Adobe Milling was founded in 1983 in the heart of the “Pinto Bean Capital of the World.” They began with just beans, and over the years added other tasty Southwestern delights. They are located in the archaeological center of the U.S., between the Grand Canyon and Grand Junction. It is a beautiful agricultural plateau: once the home to thousands of Anasazi Indians who lived here for centuries, cultivated corn, squash, Anasazi beans , and built spectacular cities at Hovenweep, Chaco Canyon, and Mesa Verde among others.
sHELBY sHAKES
Upcycled Brewer’s Grain GranolaShelby Shakes began when Shelby saw an opportunity to give the “spent” grain from breweries new life. She carted a borrowed wagon over to Steamworks Brewing Company, scooped up the soaked grains from outside the restaurants’ doors, and got to making her first batches of spent grain granola. Brewer’s spent grain is the soaked barley, wheat, and oats leftover from the beer brewing process. After brewers extract the sugars to make beer, what remains is a fiber- and protein-rich grain that’s typically thrown away or used as animal feed. Shelby rescues this nutritious byproduct from local craft breweries and upcycle it into our spent grain granola! Aquafaba, the protein-rich liquid from cooked chickpeas, is a flavorless, egg-free binder that gives her granola crunch, sourced sustainably from local Durango tempeh maker LuvTempeh!
Northern Feed and bean
Dry Beans and Livestock FeedNorthern Feed and Bean began with a small elevator back in 1952. Started by Helmut Brunner, seventy years ago he founded a company under the idea that dependable customer services and incredible quality at the top of the market would help bean growers. Now, they have locations in Lucerne and Ault, Colorado, as well as Torrington, Wyoming. Their consistent high-quality and personalized service has made them the most reliable source for dry beans, bag and bulk feed, livestock supplements, and more for the last 70 years!
